Selecting FM:Interact this past year, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is a private, independent organization located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, dedicated to marine research, engineering, and higher education. Established in 1930 on a recommendation from the National Academy of Sciences, its primary mission is to understand the oceans and their interaction with the Earth as a whole, and to communicate a basic understanding of the oceans' role in the changing global environment.
“WHOI's shore-based facilities encompass 219 acres of land and waterfront and 58 buildings and laboratories,” said Nanci Pacheco, business analyst, management information systems, WHOI. “Our facilities allow us to develop and maintain cutting-edge observation methods critical to increasing understanding of the ocean and its role in the climate system. As valuable as our facilities are to our core mission, we needed a facility management solution to mirror this initiative. FM:Interact’s Web-based platform enables us to maintain and optimize processes, is customizable to our specific needs and standards, and integrates with our existing applications. By selecting FM:Systems for our space management applications, we expect to reduce our overhead costs and improve productivity across the entire organization.”
New Employees
FM:Systems added eight new employees in 2009, including Mary Gallagher as the vice president of consulting services. In this role Mary ensures customers experience a timely and accurate implementation so they will quickly achieve their ROI goals. With more than 20 years of consulting leadership experience in technology markets, Mary previously served as the vice president of global professional services at SciQuest.
